As a younger environmental, higher education and GLBT rights activist Western States Center's ALMP program helped to focus my organziing skills and political work to better incorporate a race and gender analysis. Now 15 years later as a government employee I continue to incorporate lessons learned from Western States Center to advocate for equity and inclusion in public governance.

In 2007, after several terms as The Center's board chair, and more than 10 total years as a board member, I was able to retire, and was moved up to Board Emerita. I am proud of our excellent trend-spotting, coalition building, issues analysis, and organizational engagement– work that continues to be pertinent, current, leading edge and critical to building real community in the West.

We put her photo on the cover of the first issue of the Western States newsletter, held in the arms of Len Norwitz, one of our first staff - Rebecca Roby and Jill Spencer were in that picture, too. How time flies!
