The first memory I have of working with Western States Center was when Moira Bowman invited me to co-facilitate a workshop on building alliances across race at the BRO lobby day in 2005. It was the first time I had ever facilitated a workshop and the first time I felt my worlds - queer and immigrant - come together. Since then I've appreciated the Center's willingness to jump in to do what's needed - whether supporting our Board in strategy and planning, or being on the ground with organizations after the Del Monte raid last summer.
